Very small living things with only one cell are called bacteria and can look like spirals, balls and rods. They are microorganisms that reproduce by dividing, never getting bigger and can appear even on nonliving surfaces. Some of the species can multiply by splitting in two every minute, while others divide in hours or even days. Most of them do not hurt people (only 2% make people ill) and are helpful. For example, there are some bacteria that help you every day to digest the food you eat, gives the body the vitamins he needed and destroys the cells that can cause diseases. Some types of bacteria are used in preparing foods, such as cheese and yogurt which are very healthy. What make one ill are the infectious bacteria that have the capacity to reproduce quickly in the body. Having a Bacterial Infection means that the bacteria gave off chemicals (toxins) damaging the cells they have invaded and the tissues so that you begin to fell sick. Some examples of infectious bacteria are: E. coli, staphylococcus or streptococcus. Some of the Bacterial Infection are contagious (tuberculosis, strep throat) while others not. There are bacteria that simply provoke your immune system so that there can appear very harmful inflammations. When detecting a bacterial invasion, the body reacts immediately by increasing the quantity of white blood cells specialized in infections. All people get Bacterial Infection at some point in their lives. These kinds of infection affect especially the children, those with deficiencies in their health status and elder persons.
